Seatrium has secured a contract to retrofit its facilities with carbon capture and storage technology.

Seatrium has recently announced its second carbon capture and storage (CCS) retrofit in partnership with Mitsui OSK Lines for the vessel Nexus Victoria, set to be completed in December this year. This follows their first CCS retrofit for Solvang’s ethylene carrier, Clipper Eris, which is scheduled for November. CCS retrofits are gaining traction among shipowners as they look to meet stricter emissions regulations for existing vessels. “With a strong focus on maritime decarbonization, Seatrium is well-positioned to offer a range of low-carbon and cleaner energy solutions that support a sustainable future in the maritime industry,” the company stated. In addition to the retrofits, Seatrium is also busy with scheduled maintenance on two tankers, including one from Crowley Alaska Tanker, and has a significant contract for steel renewal on a vessel currently under repair after a collision. The yard is also handling repairs for two LPG carriers, three container ships, and a RoRo vessel, along with contracts for repairs on three LNG carriers and steelwork for a floating dock. In the offshore sector, Seatrium has secured three contracts, including work on a jack-up rig for COSL Protector Pte Ltd and a pipe lay vessel for McDermott, with all projects expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2025.
