Russia Forecasts Third Consecutive Bumper Wheat Harvest in 2024

Agritel, the agriculture analytics arm of Argus, predicts that Russia's wheat production could reach 90 million tons in the 2024-2025 harvest season, marking a third consecutive bumper harvest. The estimate, based on a favorable autumn sowing campaign, suggests that the record production witnessed in the past two years is likely to continue. This outlook, combined with existing stocks, would keep Russia's total wheat supply above 100 million tons for the third consecutive season in 2024/25. Russia, as the world's largest wheat exporter, had a record crop in 2022, and this year's production is expected to be the second-largest. Agritel's estimate for the 2022 crop is 96.5 million tons, and for 2023, it is 89.6 million tons. The forecast for the 2024 crop includes an expected 65.8 million tons of winter wheat and 24.2 million tons of spring wheat.
