The Rijeka Gateway project has recently received its first two
Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes, a significant milestone for the development of the
port's infrastructure. These cranes, manufactured by China’s ZPMC, are designed
to enhance the port's operational efficiency and capacity for handling
container ships. Their arrival marks a crucial step in the ongoing effort to
modernize the port and improve its competitiveness in the region. Further
deliveries of additional cranes are anticipated throughout this year and into
2025, indicating a robust expansion plan for Rijeka Gateway. This influx of
advanced equipment is expected to facilitate increased cargo handling
capabilities, streamline operations, and ultimately attract more shipping
traffic to the port. The Rijeka Gateway project is a joint venture initiated
through a concession agreement signed in November 2021 between APM Terminals,
which holds a 51% stake, and Enna Logic, which owns 49%. This partnership aims
to design, construct, and operate a state-of-the-art terminal that will play a
pivotal role in enhancing the overall logistics and transport framework in the
region. With these development, Rijeka Gateway is positioning itself as a key
player in the maritime industry, ready to accommodate the growing demands of
global shipping and trade while contributing to the economic growth of the
surrounding area.
