Managed by the Beaujolais Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Port of Villefranche-sur-Saône is poised for significant development as part of a broader initiative to enhance the Mediterranean-Rhone-Saone (MeRS) axis. This project is one of 35 key sites selected by the State for river infrastructure upgrades. Construction is expected to commence between the second quarter of 2025 and early 2027, aiming to boost the port's capacity and improve its facilities to better serve regional and international trade. This development reflects a strategic effort to modernize and expand important transport routes in the region.
