The Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), in a joint venture with MMC Group and APM Terminals, has signed an agreement with Mitsui E&S Co., Ltd. to acquire 48 electric rubber tyre gantry cranes by Q3 2025. This strategic move reflects PTP's commitment to enhancing capacity and efficiency to meet growing customer demands. The purchase aligns with PTP's sustainability goals, aiming to reduce emissions by 45% by 2030, with 85% of its existing rubber tyre gantry fleet already electrified. The Chairman highlighted PTP's continuous efforts in optimizing operations and remaining competitive in the global market. The port, Malaysia's busiest transshipment hub, is undergoing expansion initiatives, including the modernization of equipment through automation and digitization under the Ipsum Magna Programme.
