Port of Santos is set to launch a tender for a new container terminal in 2025.

To advance the expansion plans, the Ministry has tasked the state-owned logistics company Infra SA with developing a concession model for the STS10 terminal at the Port of Santos. This initiative, which has been under discussion for five years, aims to significantly boost cargo handling capacity and is scheduled to be tendered by 2025. The STS10 project will be located in the Saboó region and includes expanding container handling capacity from three proposed berths to four, which is expected to increase the port's operational capacity by 50%. Currently, the Port of Santos handles around 6 million containers annually, but with the new infrastructure, this number is anticipated to rise to 9 million. Before the end of the year, the new specifications for STS10 will be sent to the Court of Auditors of the Union (TCU) for review, following the completion of technical evaluations. The concession is expected to occur in 2025, under a private operation model designed to enhance the port's efficiency and capacity. There has been growing concern and pressure from various stakeholders regarding the delay of the STS10 project, with port users and business organizations emphasizing the need to move forward with the tender. Additionally, the project will also involve the construction of a new passenger terminal in the Saboo region.
