The Sri Lanka Port Authority (SLPA) has proudly announced the call
of the Ever Arm, a colossal 24,000 TEU container vessel, at the Colombo East
Container Terminal (CECT). This Taiwanese-flagged giant marks a significant
milestone for the Port of Colombo, which is the busiest port in South Asia. The
Ever Arm is an impressive 400 meters long and 60 meters wide, with a
substantial summer draft of 17.027 meters. Its advanced propulsion system not
only enhances operational efficiency but also maximizes its cargo capacity.
Built by Samsung Heavy Industries Ltd at their Geoje shipyard in 2022, this
mega vessel boasts a gross tonnage of 235,579 and a deadweight capacity of
241,960 metric tons. The successful docking of the Ever Arm at CECT was
facilitated by the terminal’s state-of-the-art 55-meter-high ship-to-shore
cranes, ensuring smooth and efficient operations for this enormous vessel.
