The Korsakov port on Sakhalin Island is buzzing
with activity as repair work kicks off. With the port recently privatized, the
new owner, backed by substantial support from both central and local
government, is rolling up their sleeves to give the place a major facelift. The
plan includes modernizing the fleet of specialized equipment, revamping the
berths, overhauling cargo storage areas, and improving the approach routes.
There’s also a focus on dredging and other essential repairs to ensure the port
meets modern standards and boosts its efficiency. It’s a big job, but it’s
clear that a lot of effort and resources are being invested to turn Korsakov
into a top-notch facility.
