Nasdaq-listed NFE has just launched its new
floating LNG export terminal off the coast of Altamira, Mexico, not far from
Tampico. This terminal, named FLNG1, processes natural gas that starts in
Texas, travels down the Valley Crossing Pipeline, and continues south via the
Sur de Texas-Tuxpan pipeline before being liquefied. The terminal uses NFE's
"Fast LNG" design, which features offshore platforms for natural gas
liquefaction. According to NFE, the process begins at a shipyard where modular
liquefaction units are built. The liquefied natural gas (LNG) is then moved
from the facility to a floating storage unit (FSU), which is more cost-effective,
quicker, and environmentally friendly compared to land-based storage. Finally,
when the LNG is ready, it is transferred from the FSU to an LNG tanker for
shipment.
