JNPA Launches Unmanned Boat for Ocean Trash Collection At Gateway Of India; Visuals Surface.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) launched an unmanned solar-powered boat to help collect floating trash from the ocean at the Gateway of India. This initiative supports Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s vision for sustainable practices to protect India’s marine environment. JNPA Chairman Unmesh Sharad Wagh emphasized the importance of safeguarding the seas, stating, “As guardians of the country’s blue economy, we must protect our seas and ecosystems. With this new boat, we’ll be collecting waste twice a week at the Gateway of India and also cleaning the Elephanta Sea. It will operate at JNPA to keep our coastal areas clean. We’re dedicated to using modern, sustainable technologies to boost our environmental efforts and promote a healthier marine ecosystem. To make this project happen, JNPA has partnered with the Clearbot team, known for their smart marine solutions. The boat is equipped with advanced features, including LiDAR sensors and patented avoidance technology, allowing it to navigate and collect waste efficiently and safely in different marine settings.
