Hutchison Port’s terminal in Barcelona is undergoing a major
upgrade with the addition of 14 new electric and rail-mounted automated cranes.
This investment will increase the terminal's storage capacity by 25%, expanding
its automated block count from 27 to 34. The new blocks are being rolled out
gradually, with the first one expected to be fully operational by September.
The seventh and final block of this expansion is projected to be in service by
early 2025. This significant enhancement is aimed at improving efficiency,
streamlining operations, and boosting overall cargo handling capabilities at
the port.
