Grino Ecologic has submitted an application for a
2,500-m² concession in the Cantabria dock at the Port of Tarragona, which would
allow for the storage of up to 1,994 tons of waste. This initiative is part of
the company's broader strategy to enhance waste management and recycling
operations in the region. The plan involves importing 60,000 tons of
pre-treated and packaged, non-hazardous waste from various countries each year.
This waste will not only be stored at the port but will also be processed in
Grino Ecologic’s facilities to recover valuable materials. By focusing on
non-hazardous waste, the company aims to ensure that its operations are safe
and environmentally friendly. Grino Ecologic’s efforts are in line with
regional sustainability goals, as the project seeks to minimize landfill use
and promote the circular economy. By recycling and repurposing waste materials,
the company hopes to contribute to reducing environmental impact while
supporting local economies. The successful establishment of this concession
could lead to improved waste management practices in Tarragona, positioning the
port as a hub for sustainable waste solutions in the region.
