The government had finalized the detailed project report for the International Transhipment port at Great Nicobar Island worth around 41,000 Crore and they are planning to move forward with it within the next few months. This project had faced a significant inspection due to environmental concerns. These investments are from both government and public private partnership. The port in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will have the ultimate capacity to handle 16 million containers per year.
