The Gambia Ports
Authority is taking a significant step toward modernizing its operations by
choosing Prodevelop, a Spanish company, to implement the Posidonia Management
Port Management Information System (PMIS). This project will be carried out in
partnership with Lasting Solutions, a local firm. The primary goal of this
upgrade is to enhance the efficiency of port management. Prodevelop's PMIS is
designed to digitalize and streamline the port’s internal processes. By
adopting this system, the Gambia Ports Authority aims to improve vessel and
cargo handling, reduce turnaround times for ships, and strengthen security
measures within the port. Additionally, the system will help ensure compliance
with international maritime regulations and improve data management and
reporting. Hosting the PMIS on Amazon Web Services (AWS) brings several
advantages, including the ability to easily scale the system as needed, benefit
from Amazon’s robust cyber security measures, and ensure reliable data backups.
This setup also allows for a quicker implementation without the need for
extensive on-premises installations. Furthermore, the agreement with Prodevelop’s
includes ongoing technical support and maintenance services. This means that
the Gambia Ports Authority will receive comprehensive support covering
corrective, preventive, evolutionary, adaptive, and perfective maintenance,
ensuring that the system runs smoothly and effectively. Prodevelop’s commitment
to supporting African clients in their digital transformation continues with
this project, aiming to optimize port operations and improve overall
efficiency.
