Fredriksen’s Avance Gas has sold its Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC) fleet to BW LPG for $1 billion.

With the sale of its VLGC fleet, Avance Gas will become the second-largest shareholder in BW LPG, holding approximately 12.77% of the company. The ships are set to be delivered throughout the fourth quarter of 2024, but the transaction is contingent on obtaining consent from the charterers of three time charter parties and the lessors of the two sale-leaseback facilities for the Avance Polaris and Avance Capella. The fleet is currently a bit on the smaller side, we believe it's in our shareholders' best interest to capitalize on the high second-hand prices and sell the VLGC fleet to BW LPG. The acquisitions boost its owned and operated VLGC fleet from 41 to 53 vessels, and the timing comes as it sees abating newbuild deliveries and growth in LPG export volumes. The 12 VLGCs will be delivered over the last three months of 2024. However, this is dependent on getting the green light from the charterers of three time charter agreements and the lessors of the two sale-leaseback vessels, Avance Polaris and Avance Capella.
