DP World has completed its acquisition of Cargo
Services, a prominent logistics company based in Hong Kong. Founded in 1989,
Cargo Services has established itself as a significant player in the logistics
sector, especially known for its early entry into the China market. The company
employs over 2,500 people and operates across Greater China, Asia, Europe,
South Africa, and the US. It offers a broad range of logistics solutions
including origin purchase order management, ocean freight, air freight, and
warehousing. With this acquisition, DP World will expand its operations to over
200 freight forwarding offices around the globe, which will cover up to 95% of
global trade flows. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, DP World’s Group Chairman &
CEO, expressed his enthusiasm about the merger. He emphasized that Cargo
Services' logistics expertise and extensive global network will perfectly
complement DP World’s existing operations. This integration is expected to
enhance their capability to offer comprehensive services to customers, helping
them strengthen existing trade relationships and explore new markets. The
acquisition process is now complete, and both companies are planning a full
integration over the next few months. This strategic move aims to create a more
powerful global logistics network, improving service offerings and operational
efficiencies.
