Danish shipper DFDS is set to begin a Ro-Ro
(roll-on, roll-off) service between Trieste and Damietta, Egypt, starting in
November. This new route will provide a vital link for transporting goods
between Italy and Egypt, catering to growing trade demands in the region. The
service will initially operate with one ship, docking at the Ro-Ro terminal in
the Friuli Venezia Giulia port in Trieste. This terminal is well-equipped to
handle various cargo, making it an ideal starting point for shipments to and
from Damietta. Given the anticipated demand, DFDS is considering adding a
second ship to the service soon, which would further enhance capacity and
efficiency. This development marks an important step in improving maritime
connectivity in the Mediterranean and could significantly benefit businesses
looking to streamline their logistics between Europe and North Africa.
