Danish firm Green Instruments has secured a significant agreement with Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding to supply advanced oil mist detectors for new ships, part of China's largest shipbuilding group, CSSC. The detectors are designed to identify oil mist and vapors on ships, triggering alarms before potential fires can develop, thereby mitigating risks to crew, vessels, and the environment. With shipboard fires posing serious threats to lives, cargo, and the environment, the partnership aims to prevent such incidents by installing technology that detects invisible and odorless oil mist. The detectors, utilizing laser technology, can cover areas up to 15 meters, providing precise information on the location of potential leaks. This collaboration reflects a growing industry interest in safety equipment, driven by the understanding that a minor investment in advanced technology can significantly enhance shipboard safety and prevent catastrophic consequences.
