ClassNK has unveiled "Guidelines for Cyber Resilience of On-board Systems and Equipment," aligning with the new IACS Unified Requirements (UR) E27 for on-board systems and equipment. These guidelines mark a significant step as the first instance of cybersecurity becoming mandatory in class rules. The URs, applicable to new ships from July 1, 2024, aim to enhance the cyber resilience of ships against cyber-attacks. ClassNK's guidelines provide crucial insights for manufacturers and suppliers, offering interpretations of each UR E27 requirement and outlining the approval procedure, including document reviews and surveys.
