In the first half of the year, China made a long
step in its ship export sector. They exported 100 liquid cargo carriers,
representing a significant 66.7% increase from the previous period, with a
total value of RMB15.55 billion. This uptick reflects a growing demand for
these specialized vessels. Container ship exports saw an even more dramatic
rise. China delivered 166 new container ships, with a combined value of
RMB66.26 billion. This marks a substantial 140.6% increase in the number of
vessels and a remarkable 175.8% surge in value. The sharp increase is largely
attributed to the large volume of container ships ordered during the pandemic's
peak, now finally coming to fruition. Bulk carriers also showed impressive
growth. China exported 261 of these ships, valued at RMB35.84 billion, which
represents an 85.1% increase in volume and a 42% increase in value. This growth
highlights China’s expanding role in meeting global shipping needs and reflects
the broader trends in the international maritime industry.
