Cepsa, owned by Mubadala and Carlyle, and C2X, majority owned by A.P. Moller Holding with Maersk as minority owner, have announced plans for a green methanol production plant in Spain. The project aims to achieve an annual production capacity of 300,000 tonnes of green methanol, potentially preventing the emission of up to 1 million tonnes of CO2. The final investment decision, involving an investment of up to €1 billion ($1.084 billion), is expected in 2025. The green methanol facility is part of the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley, targeting a green hydrogen production capacity of 2 GW by 2030.
