Cargo traffic at 12 major ports across the country increased by 5.92%, reaching 70.08 million tonnes compared to 66.17 million tonnes last year, according to the Indian Ports Association. This growth reflects a solid rise in shipping activity and economic momentum in the sector. Out of these ports, 10 reported positive growth in cargo handling, while 2 saw a decline. The ports include Deendayal (Kandla), Mumbai, Mormugao, New Mangalore, Cochin, Chennai, Ennore (Kamarajar), Tuticorin (VO Chidambaranar), Visakhapatnam, Paradip, Kolkata (including Haldia), and Jawaharlal Nehru Port. Cochin Port led the growth with a 24.77% increase, followed by Visakhapatnam Port at 10.80% and JN Port at 9.07%. Chennai Port saw an 8.89% rise, while Deendayal Port and V.O.
