Calcutta Port has announced the launch of new cargo services connecting Haldia with the UAE.

The Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Calcutta has introduced a new container service called the Bengal Middle East Express (BMEx), which will link Haldia Dock Complex (HDC) directly with Jebel Ali Port in the UAE. This service will operate on a route connecting Haldia, Chittagong, and Jebel Ali. The BMEx aims to improve efficiency for exporters and importers by reducing transit times and costs. By bypassing traditional transhipment hubs, the service will help avoid delays, lower operational costs, and ease congestion, thereby making supply chains more reliable and competitive. The BMEx service, launched by Ocean Salute Line of Singapore in collaboration with MBK Logistix, is expected to enhance global connectivity for the port. The inaugural vessel, Yong Yue 11, is scheduled to dock at Haldia on September 6. Port chairman Rathendra Raman expressed pride in the new service, noting that it not only establishes a direct trade link between Haldia and Jebel Ali but also promotes regional economic growth. To support the initiative, the port is offering significant discounts on vessel-related charges for container ships arriving directly from Southeast Asia, the Far East, and the Middle East. This move underscores the port's commitment to boosting its global competitiveness and supporting the region's export and import trade.
