Bureau Veritas has awarded an Approval in Principle (AiP) to ERMA FIRST for its BLUE CONNECT system, a high-voltage alternative maritime power solution designed to be housed in a 40ft container. The system enables ships to connect with various shore power systems, both externally and internally. BLUE CONNECT meets safety and performance requirements, making it suitable for containerships and cruise ships expected to comply with shore power connection requirements in European ports by 2030. The system aims to reduce emissions while ships are at berth, enhancing environmental sustainability and operational efficiency.
