Briese, a shipping company based in Leer, has
secured a new contract to manage a fleet of Germany’s medium-sized research
vessels, which includes the “Alkor,” “Heincke,” “Elisabeth Mann Borgese,” and
“Maria S. Merian.” This contract, effective from January 1, 2025, extends
Briese Research’s management responsibilities for another five years. The
agreement also includes options for two additional extensions of three years
each, allowing for potential long-term continuation. Briese Research, a
division of the Leer Shipping Group, has been managing these research vessels
for the state-owned ship owners for the past 20 years. This new contract
reinforces their role in operating and maintaining these key vessels that play
a vital role in scientific research and environmental monitoring. The vessels
are crucial for various marine and oceanographic studies, contributing to
Germany’s scientific and research capabilities in these fields. The renewal of
this contract highlights Briese’s ongoing expertise and reliability in managing
specialized maritime operations for government entities. The renewed contract
gives maximum planning security.
