The Sarawak Legislative Assembly has been informed that the takeover process of Bintulu Port from the federal government is expected to conclude by July 2024. Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Majang Renggi, stated that the state government is actively preparing legal provisions and necessary arrangements for the transition, emphasizing the strategic role of Bintulu Port in Sarawak's economic ecosystem. The move aligns with Sarawak's persistent desire to reclaim control in accordance with the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
