Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, visited the proposed International Container Transhipment Port (ICTP) at Galathea Bay, Great Nicobar Island, marking significant progress in the ambitious project. The project has received crucial environmental and forest clearances, and tenders for construction are set to be invited in the coming year. Shri Sonowal emphasized the strategic importance of the ICTP for economic and infrastructural development in the region. The visit also highlighted the Ministry's commitment to holistic island development, with a focus on tourism potential and infrastructure projects like the Campbell Bay Port.
