India's LNG Imports and Production Show Steady Growth Despite Cost Reduction


India's liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports in October surged by 18.2% YoY, reaching 2.34 billion cubic meters (1.71 million tonnes). From April to October, LNG imports rose by 13.4%, totaling 17.75 bcm (13 million tonnes). Despite the increased volume, India spent $1.2 billion on LNG imports in October, a reduction from $1.4 billion in the previous year. Meanwhile, domestic natural gas production also experienced positive growth, with October's output up by 9.3%. From April to October, gas production increased by 4.8%, reaching about 21 bcm. India currently imports LNG through seven facilities, with a total capacity of approximately 47.7 million tonnes. Notably, the Adani-TotalEnergies joint venture commenced natural gas supply from their Dhamra LNG terminal in April, contributing to the overall growth. Petronet LNG's Dahej terminal operated at 94.3
