It is strategically situated on International marine routes and provides easy access to the dense industrial hubs of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. With deep draft berths and multipurpose terminals, the port efficiently handles the largest bulk carriers in the world. The port handles liquid cargo and also Dry Cargo.

Anchorage Area
Anchor positions are provided by the Gulf of Khambhat VTMS. Dahej marine environment is challenging because of its large tidal variation and very strong tidal currents. Due to this in past vessels have lost their anchors hence for the safety of deep draft loaded vessels Gulf of Khambat VTMS is advising vessels to anchor at outer port limit (OPL) which is about 90NM / 12hrs from the Dahej port limits.
